Asthma and allergic asthma (coughing and wheezing)

Not all that wheezes is asthma. Our asthma doctors can perform breathing tests and methacholine challenges to properly diagnose asthma. Our philosophy of treatment is to maximize treatment with minimal amount of medications and antihistamines. We can offer allergy shots or other modes of therapy such as biologics, highly immunologic targeted therapy.  Biologic class of medications can be administered every 2 to 8 weeks with patients with poorly controlled asthma.

Our food allergy tests are very simple and effective. We can perform skin testing and know what you are allergic to in about 15 minutes in the allergy clinic. Many children can outgrow food allergies. If so, we can also perform food challenges in the allergy clinic. Our allergy testing procedures will quickly determine the allergens to which you are reacting.

Eosinophilic esophagitis

There are many research papers conlcuding that food allergies may be causing inflammation in the esophagus. We can help identify those foods and let you know what specific precautions should be taken with your diet. For eosinophilic esophagitis, allergy testing is essential. Avoiding allergens through dietary modification will provide immunotherapy and allergy relief from impaction, difficulty swallowing, heartburn, and any other symptoms you may be experiencing. There are new medications such as biologics that has been highly effective for patients.
